The 61st Industrial Rapid Chess Tournament for the year 2024-25 recently concluded, celebrating a century of strategic brilliance and competitive spirit among players from various industrial sectors. This year’s tournament showcased extraordinary talent, fostering camaraderie while engaging chess enthusiasts from across the industry.
Inauguration Ceremony
The tournament kicked off with an inspiring inauguration attended by notable figures from the Industrial Sports Association (ISA) and industry leaders. Among them were:
- Mr.N D Kadam, Vice President of ISA, whose address set the tone for the event, emphasizing the significance of chess in promoting critical thinking and collaboration among professionals.
- Mr.Pradeep Wagh, ISA Treasurer, acknowledged the dedication of participants and volunteers, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the tournament.
- Mr.Hari Deshpande, Chairman of the Tournament Committee, provided insights into the meticulous planning that went into organizing the event, highlighting the commitment to ensuring an excellent experience for all.
- Mr.Prashant Chaudhary, FIS Director, and Mr.Jitendra Nikhal, Administration Head, played instrumental roles in streamlining event logistics.
- Mr.Abhijeet Shinde*, part of the Finance Team, contributed to the successful execution of the tournament.

This year's tournament saw 107 participants representing 25 different companies, a testament to the growing interest in chess within the industrial community. Over several rounds, competitors demonstrated their strategic prowess and adaptability on the chessboard.
Champions and Awards
As the rounds progressed, the excitement culminated in a fiercely contested final. The title of champion was claimed by Mr.Shrikant Muchandikar from Chropynska India Pvt Ltd, who delivered an outstanding performance, finishing with an impressive 7 points out of 7 rounds. His strategic gameplay and ability to outmaneuver opponents earned him this coveted title.
The first runner-up position was secured by Mr.Ajay Firke from Thermax Babcock, achieving 6 points out of 7 rounds.
Close behind was Mr.Prasad Chitare from Tata Motors Ltd, who also finished with 6 points out of 7 rounds, claiming the title of second runner-up. Prasad's remarkable skill set him apart, earning him recognition in a competitive field.
In addition, the tournament highlighted exceptional performances by female competitors, with Ms.Slesha Madkaikar from Ampure Computing earning the title of Female Champion after securing 5.5 points out of 7 rounds. Her performance reflects the growing participation and success of female players in competitive chess.
Special Awards and Recognition
A Special Trophy was awarded to the Forvia Sports Committee, recognizing their outstanding support and organization of the tournament. This trophy symbolizes the collaboration and teamwork that facilitated a successful event.
The tournament was smoothly conducted the team Tactical Moves Chess Academy under the guidance of International Instructor FI Pratik Mulay who is the founder of the academy .The team including IA Shardul Tapase who was the Chief Arbiter , Mr. Shubham Chaturvedi Arbiter, Mr. Anup Pande who did exceptional work to show the live games on DGT chess set , Mr.Aadesh Ingale who did amazing work to make sure the tournament success and Mr. Mayur Shinde , were also acknowledged for their significant contributions to the tournament's success.
